If you check your twitter or Facebook recently you will see one popular hash tag #SomebodytellSaudiArabia trending. Saudi Arabia is killing and torturing Ethiopian Immigrants and Expats residing in Saudi. The Movement comes after Saudi was “disturbed” about its unemployed citizens and thought the solution for the problem was to expel those who don’t posses legal living permit from Saudi.Now that’s understandable; However, There is this concept very widely popular in the 21st century called”Human Rights” and every government should respect it. We have been constantly updated about the situation in Saudi Arabia with horrifying pictures of Saudi Police beating Ethiopian Immigrants to death and torturing them. Saudi is doing some serious shit to Ethiopians and the whole world should be aware of it.

We grow up told that Ethiopia hosted the first Muslim Pilgrims from the Arab World, the then Saudi around the 9th century. The Prophet told the Muslim Pilgrims Ethiopia was safe as heaven and that they will be protected in the kingdom. The Ethiopian People hosted the pilgrims and showed them a truly remarkable Hospitality. Then is this how Saudi pays Ethiopians?! For a country claiming to be super religious they did the unacceptable and they should be brought before Justice.Killing and Torturing Immigrants is no excuse for any problem. Humans are a sacred being and there dignity should be respected.

Another Slap on the face for Ethiopians- Saudi Arabia win UN Human Rights Seat! Good God! We were asking for the expulsion of Saudi from the UN and now this?! This is a big defame for International Law, Showing only the powerful will have their rights respected.

The Ethiopian Government showed a very smooth approach to the whole situation. Yes Every body agrees diplomacy and negotiations should always come upfront, However, the government should demand in a clear manner for the protection of human rights of its citizens. Denying that Ethiopian Immigrants die and covering the problem for the Saudi Government is not making the situation any less problematic. Every Country is equal(Well… at least on Paper!) and no one country should treat any others country in a degrading manner.
