Afternoon Thoughts!
The title could have been different but I’m really not in a mood to start another war although, it’s not inevitable.
Yesterday the People of France were terrorized by an attack which claimed hundreds of lives and seriously injured over a 100 people. The world reacts to this by sharing sorrow and wishing the victims to rest in peace and for France to recover from this misery. It’s obvious that every-time a terrorist attack happen and claims innocent lives it deeply shook the consciousness of the everyone from all over the world regardless of any artificial difference we have.
Yesterday after I heard the news I expressed my sorrow and changed my profile picture in solidarity with the people of France. But I saw a trend that really frustrated me, which is how some people divert the issue to a completely unexpected direction.
The people seems to have been mad because we didn’t change our profile picture to shed a reality about the 15,000,000 people who are projected to be needing immediate food assistance by this years end. They call out on me and other people who change their profile picture to the flag of France to say that we are western brainwashed people who never care about our own country and somehow that we give priority to a capable nation while all our people are going hungry.
Well I got news for you people;
1. Going with your logic, since we have to allocate all our effort and thoughts and prayers exclusively to Ethiopia and our people, we should also refrain from expecting from countries that are helping us. The United States have pledged over 100 Million USD in food aid but they do it because they believe in humanity not because they don’t have citizens who could make use of the money. In fact, they are the one who reach out to us first when our government cared so much for its public image than the people that goes hungry. Oh I might also add the fact that 300 million birr is being spent on celebration for ANDM (Amhara National Democratic Front) while the people in Wollo, Tigray and Afar are victims of the crime. So Should the countries that pledge and have been pledging their support need to stop their support because they need to focus on their people first? Oh and We only offer prayers I’m sure you would get crazier if we offer some kind of material assistance. Lesson- Humanity has no boundary and we should all care for it. Nationality is never a restriction for us to stand together for our common belief as humans.
2. Some of you people really look into problems, Nobody said or shared a post I shared earlier about a fundraising campaign for our people, in which over 7,000$ is being raised for the people. Well I will leave the rest up to you.

On the other hand,
I understand that Facebook is not prioritizing for all lives and that need to change immediately. People should be given the opportunity to share their grief and not when Facebook only feel like it and I urge Facebook to open the platform for all.
– I understand that All lives are not being treated fairly. When thousands are dying everyday in Syria, Pakistan, Yemen or Afghanistan or when hundreds of thousands are losing their lives in search of a better life or fleeing from oppression and causality, no body reacts in the same level of anger and sympathy. This could be because of lack of knowledge and a complete Bias from the Western media and Yes I’m all in to challenge this and make a change for good.
Again This is not to say our inaction to voice our concern for terrorist attacks in Paris is justified but a problem that we all need to work on to create a better world.
After all, we are all the same and we have all the same enemies. #Humanityfirst #Prayingforhumanity #Imasmuchapatriotasyouare
