It’s my Birthday And I’m scared.

Wow. It’s amazing to celebrate my 25th Birthday! It feels Wonderful, to have reached a landmark of a quarter century. I’m very lucky to have been surrounded by people that not only  made feel appreciated and loved but also made me want to live another 25 and another one and another one….
I asked myself what I wish could go right in my world for my birthday. Sure I want to pursue my education, have a nice job, pursue my dream and have the people that mean the world to me be my side. But those things don’t mean anything if we don’t have the world we collectively call home. Earth is dying!
Reports came out that February 2016 was already the hottest month in history averaging 1.35 Degree more than the long -term average. We are at a Climate Emergency
There is only one planet that can cater all our need and that’s earth. No other place in the universe is capable of providing our ever increasing need for resources. The problem, however; is that we don’t seem to care about Earth as we continuously working hard to make sure it become unbearable, an inhabitable planet in a manner of time.
As much as I woke up happy to have lived for 25 years I’m scared to even imagine the dreadful possibilities that are going to cost us our civilization, Our Home.

Something needs to be done now and only now. The best time we have to end this suicidal progress is now. We need to reimagine the way we live and the way we are impacting our planet because in the words of some wise man ” Nature doesn’t need Us, We need Nature.”

Here is hoping, When I publish another blog post 25 years from now, we have adopted to a new lifestyle that isn’t destroying  our home. As Leonardo Dicaprio said in his Oscar Acceptance speech- “I don’t take my birthday for granted, We shouldn’t take our planet for granted.”
